FAQs
- How Large is the JLAC?
- We currently have 50+ active members plus a growing number of sustainers.
- When are your meetings held?
- Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm with a cocktail half hour starting at 6:30pm. Our new member program is held from 6:00-6:30 as well.
- I have a full-time job. Can I still join?
- Yes! Most JLAC members hold regular full-time jobs. JLAC has volunteer activities available in the evenings and on weekends, as well as signature projects during the day to accommodate members’ varied schedules.
- How does JLAC support the community?
- Volunteer power enables the Junior League to offer much more than most grant-making organizations. When a dollar is donated to the Junior League, it is made more robust with the addition of trained volunteer hours to provide a more meaningful impact on the community. The time donated by trained JLAC volunteers is often argued to be even more valuable than the dollars awarded.
- Why should I volunteer with JLAC rather than individual organizations?
- Member volunteers speak of the meaningful impact they feel they have on the community and their ability to contribute to a structured, well-organized environment. Volunteers also benefit from training in a variety of educational and leadership programs.
- What are the expectations of membership?
- We pride ourselves on meeting members where they are, knowing life happens. The goal for every member is to attend five of the eight meetings and complete 12 service hours a year, in addition, to help the league grow by serving the league internally in a role of her choosing.
- What are the fees?
- There is a $70.00 new member fee that is only paid at your time of joining. Then all members pay an annual fee of $250.00, including tickets to the spring party/oyster roast. The $250.00 is not due all at once and can be paid from August to May. We have several scholarships available, so please don’t hesitate to contact Brittney Gamble at JLACTreasurer@gmail.com for more information.
